Challenges are a great way to get excitement brewing amongst your members along while heightening engagement around the club. To get some creative juices flowing, check out the below quick powerplay video followed some best practices and some resources to help you run a successful facility challenge.
Challenge Creation Basics
As a club operator, you will have access to creating your challenge from your owner's admin portal when you log into your Myzone account at www.myzonemoves.com. Click on your drop-down menu, then click on "Challenges".
There are 4 types of challenge templates you could choose from:
- Member (video) - invite all members to challenge each other for the most MEPs. This is our most popular option!
- Inter-Group (video) - create custom groups within your club where this option allows you to pit groups against each other. Groups will be ranked based on their average MEP score.
- Facility (video) - allows your members to challenge members from another Myzone facility! The facilities will be ranked by the average MEP score.
- Team (video) - Define custom teams and pit them against each other. Anyone with a Myzone belt (even if they are not your member) can participate in this challenge!
Treat your club challenge like a "Fun Run" where there's plenty of advertisement and notice around the club. We recommend advertising for 2-3 weeks before the challenge starts. This helps promote additional belt sales for the club as well as ensuring all members are prepared and have the opportunity to bring questions to staff. To help out, be sure to check out our challenge posters and virtual marketing available in your Marketing Portal to help you advertise around the club.
Meanwhile, as you prepare for your challenge, let's start thinking about some logistics. We recommend the challenge length be 4-6 weeks in total and to consider a "lottery mechanics" style type of play. For example, fixing a minimal MEP hurdle to participate in the challenge (maybe it’s 1,300 MEPs) and once your members reach that hurdle, they are eligible to participate in the raffle. Then once they are in the raffle, reward continuous effort by submitting a raffle ticket for every 100 or 200 MEPs additionally earned. The more raffle tickets earned, the more chances they have to win the prize(s). Creating a challenge with lottery mechanics will encourage all exercise goers to stay engaged and will minimize a MEP monster taking the win away right out of the gate.
At the end of the challenge, draw a winner or a few and use social media channels to reward and announce the winners! We recommend the prizes highlight the club’s services first ($100 in paid programming, $100 at the pro shop, a month free of PT etc.) so this way the winners try a new service for free, love it, they are drawn to continuing the service which will turn into your members using more services at your club. You could also reward an Amazon gift card or dinner for 2 at a local restaurant; the options are limitless!
